As an introductory course for incoming freshman, its topics include survey of the applications of computer graphics, the knowledge base and history of computer graphics, an examination of computer graphics technologies and careers in this rapidly emerging and evolving field, as well as an overview of the abundance of available resources for study and research in computer graphics at Purdue University.
Topics include: sketching, mult-iview drawings, auxiliary views, pictorial views, working drawings, dimensioning practices, and section views. Students develop an understanding of the basic design elements and principles, composition and typography through exercises and projects. The focus is on visual thinking, exploring the relationship between type and image, and developing multiple solutions to a given problem.
